We have two closings in the downtown area to tell you about this week. The first is a gift and art gallery located next to Cabin Fever Roasters. We received an anonymous email tip late last week, and over the weekend the store confirmed it on their facebook page. Something More Than Ordinary closed January 30th. The owners expressed their thank you’s for the community support and have linked their page to their artists, potters, and vendors. We will link the page below. Per their facebook page, the owners will be operating and selling from home, much like closed cakery La Ti Da. The facebook page will be continued to support their love of the arts for Douglasville.

Another closing we got word of from our tipster Bob is The Island Bar and Grill located on the eastern edge of the main Broad St. strip. We went by to check out when they would close only to discover that they had already closed. The tables and chairs had been removed. The Island Bar and Grill specialized in carribean flavor and foods. Their website is still up and running, as well as their facebook page, but it hasn’t been updated for a while. Sad to see not one but two places downtown close. We’ll keep on it to find out what might be going in these two spots.
