On October 14, it will be an all-white affair for the fourth annual Mother/Daughter Dance set to take place at Studio T located at 4040 Chapel Hill Road.
Billed as “a night of elegance for the Queen and her Princess”, the Mother/Daughter dance aims to honor the precious bond between a mother and her daughter. “I realized that a mother and daughter relationship was one of the main foundations to a healthy family,” said Sharon Mason-Love, organizer of the event.
Inspired by the bond she was building with her own daughters, she also witnessed the struggle of one daughter wanting to attend an annual Father/Daughter dance, despite not having her father in her life. Thus, the Mother/Daughter Dance was created.
“I knew that there many other girls out there like her, missing and yearning for that special bond,” explained Mason-Love. “Although I could never take that void out of her life, what I could do is make our bond stronger, tighter, and secure.”
Tickets for the Mother/Daughter dance are $45 for a mother/daughter combo. For an additional daughter, tickets are $10 for ages 5 to 11 and $15 for ages 12 to 18. Tickets can be purchased here.
In addition to honoring the relationship between mother and daughter, the Mother/Daughter dance is also in the in the process of transitioning into a scholarship fundraiser for an upcoming college freshman. While details are still being worked out, one of the potential requirements would be an essay from both mother and daughter.
“We will continue the bond even in education. We still have some details to figure out, but I see big things for this event in the future,” said Mason-Love.
